Helsinki Fashion Week™ 2016
Nordic Reflections
The second Helsinki Fashion Week taking place between the 22nd and 26th of July 2016 on the Suomenlinna islands in Helsinki. On the Unesco World Heritage List, Suomenlinna is an historical sea fortress built across 6 islands, a mere 15 minute ferry ride from one of Helsinki’s most popular market squares, the “Kauppatori”.
HFW 2016 seeks to go beyond the European market and engage innovative and cutting edge designers from as far away as South Africa, Latin America, Asia, Australia, UAE, and elsewhere, presenting these distant cultures in the Nordic context, in the Nordic lifestyle.
The long summery days of July along the Baltic coastline of the Finnish capital will provide a completely unique and groundbreaking atmosphere and backdrop for the event.
HFW intends to capitalise on Helsinki’s unique position and embrace the surrounding multiculturalism, establishing a Nordic fashion hub which truly has the possibility to act as a fashion gateway between the North and the rest of the planet. Shuttle boats will be provided exclusively for every show, carting guests to and from the mainland to the Suomenlinna islands. The boats will be rigged with live performances, exhibitions, installations and presentations and VIP areas, priming the guests for what is to be expected on the islands.
Not simply a showcase, HFW 2016 will be a market place providing an opportunity for companies to connect with the target audiences internationally.
HFW 2015 was the first Fashion Week ever in Finland. It was also the most successful fashion event in terms of sales and social media hype. This gave us the confidence to set our goals even higher. Helsinki Fashion Week 2016 will set the new international standard for the Finnish fashion industry.
